The following updates have been made for Betty and Betty customers between January 2026 and February 2026
Feb 12, 2026 — Smarter responses where it matters (GPT-5.2 upgrade)
We upgraded some of Betty’s behind-the-scenes “heavy lifting” steps from GPT-4.1 to GPT-5.2.
What this means for you
- Responses may look slightly more organized and readable (often a bit more conversational).
- Betty should follow nuanced instructions more reliably (especially when you’ve given it specific direction on what to use).
- Citing and selecting content can be a bit more precise in those advanced steps.
If you notice anything odd in formatting or behavior, tell us and we’ll take a look.
Deployment of Agentic Workflows within Betty
We have upgraded the mechanism of Betty behind the scenes that allows more flexibility in what actions and steps betty can take. This allows for re-usable, customizable workflows that expand the possible uses of your Betty instance.
Jan 20, 2026 — Better analytics + more UI control
Google Tag Manager (GTM) events in the widget
You can now track Betty widget activity in Google Tag Manager (starting with link clicks). More event types will be added.
New widget parameters
- widget-event-support: identifies your tag manager tool (currently only gtm)
- widget-event-id: sets a unique identifier for events (helpful if you have multiple Betty widgets)
Want additional event types tracked? Send us what you’d like to measure. Note: this is fairly new and has not been tested much. Happy to test with customers who are interested.
Custom “thinking” animation styling
You can now customize the CSS class used for the “thinking” animation (or any styling you want tied to that state).
New widget parameter
- cursor-class: replaces the default cursor class with your own
If you want examples, we can share a few patterns.
Sidebar default state (for history and/or Knowledge+)
If you use conversation history and/or Knowledge+ features, you can now control whether the sidebar loads open or closed.
New widget parameter
- sidebar-position-start: open or closed (default is open)
Jan 15, 2026 — Cleaner references + INSIGHTS portal upgrade
- More control over references: better support for suppressing references for specific content items or entire sources.
- INSIGHTS portal framework upgrade: infrastructure improvements to support smoother updates and future enhancements.
Jan 13, 2026 — Improvements to training tools (especially for tricky websites)
We expanded training options to make it easier to keep content accurate and up to date, even on modern sites.
What’s new
- Better handling for web content that requires scripts to run (helpful for JavaScript-heavy CMS setups).
- Sitemap-based training support: if a sitemap includes “last modified” dates, we can use it as a more efficient alternative to full crawling—often enabling more frequent refreshes.
Jan 9, 2026 — Performance improvements for retrieval
We reworked one of Betty’s supporting retrieval methods that was contributing to performance slowdowns.
What changed
- A structured retrieval approach (good for things like titles, author names, exact terms) has been reorganized to reduce performance issues.
- The underlying structure was updated to support future improvements around metadata extraction and usage.
- We now have more flexibility to dial retrieval methods up/down per use case, balancing speed vs. extra precision when needed.
Jan 8, 2026 — Safer content additions in INSIGHTS
To help avoid accidentally mixing content into sources managed another way:
- When customers add new content via the INSIGHTS portal, Betty will now automatically create a new Content Source for those additions.
- This also includes security controls that prevent adding to other sources until approved.
