I believed in Betty so much; I knew I wanted to work for them.
I used to work at Marine Retailers Association of the Americas (MRAA) – mainly, marketing membership to non-member boat dealers to show the value of joining their community. Our membership offered what most association memberships offer – resources (a lot of them), education, advocacy representation, and certification.
Let’s talk about the resources MRAA offers. Theres’s so much and it’s all great! It covers anything that a boat dealer might need – from budgeting and inventory support to industry data, to dealership marketing materials… Like I said, they cover a lot of ground, plus there are different types of resources – blogs, videos, podcasts, guides, etc.
This all sounds great, but I kept running into the same issue: proving the value of our content and making it easily accessible to members. Of course, our content was valuable… but it was difficult to access, find in the LMS – ultimately, it was difficult for our members to use our valuable content.
Things started to change when Betty helped us create AIMIE (AI for Marine Industry Education). This is the way I thought of it – we were creating a Chat GPT specific to the marine industry… which, we were, and it was awesome - well still is – you can see AIMIE here!
Finally, members could find what they were looking for, interact with it, and understand the content in the way they wanted to! For the first time, we weren’t just telling members that their association was valuable—we were showing them.
We were getting new members and longtime members were upgrading their membership to have access to AIMIE – it was cool. Seeing this success in our membership numbers was inspiring. So inspiring, in fact, that I wanted to help more associations see this type of success.
Now, as part of the Betty team, I get to help associations tackle their biggest challenges. Trust me, I know the frustrations association professionals feel – I’ve been there. I also know the changes and improvements that are possible with the right tools and support in place.
